CREST Elective 2021

Hello everyone and welcome back to our new and returning CSIRO CREST Elective students in 2021. I’m happy to see you all safe and well!

CREST (Creativity in Research, Engineering, Science and Technology) is a program facilitated by CSIRO Education and Outreach that engages students to undertake novel science and engineering research projects. Students submit their findings in a report to obtain an accreditation in the form of a CREST Award, and then enter projects into Australian and international competitions.

It is very exciting to see that students are continuing their projects from 2020 and many have chosen to work over the school holidays. Their dedication is to be commended.

CREST Awards for 2020 students

Bronze and Silver CREST certificate and medallions for our CREST 2020 students have arrived and will be presented at the next school assembly - thank you for your patience.

BHP Foundation Science and Engineering Awards

Sidra Khan in 9B submitted her CREST project titled “Does essential oil infused and dried cotton buds prevent bacterial growth?” to the Science Teachers Association of Victoria (STAV) Science Talent Search competition in 2020.

It was selected for entry into the prestigious National BHP Foundation Science and Engineering Awards, and Sidra has won a Finalists Award. This is an outstanding achievement – congratulations to Sidra! Well done!!
